New regulatory requirements: Transportation of Children

Centre based services that provide regular transportation to children will be required to adhere to NEW regulatory requirements from the 1 March 2023. The Education and Care Services National Amendment Regulations 2022 have added two new regulations and have amended three others. The additional regulations are “102E Children embarking a means of transport – centre based service” and “102F Children disembarking a means of transport – centre based service”

These changes specifically address the requirement for approved providers and nominated supervisors to account for children as they get in or out of a vehicle at an education and care service, perform internal vehicle checks to ensure that no children remain in the vehicle and keep records of these accounts.  These changes also introduce new regulatory authority notification requirements.

ACECQA provide further details on these changes and provide new guidance information and resources on the ACECQA website here.
