We are excited to announce Coffee Conversations will return in November 2023, with special open sessions available to members and non-members. These sessions offer access to subject matter experts and guest speakers along with the opportunity to collaborate and share experiences with other services in small group breakout sessions.

Session 1

Department of Education

8 November 2023, 1-2pm

Early Childhood Outcomes: Local reform to provide localised support for ECEC services

The NSW Department of Education will share information on a new function of Early Childhood Outcomes as part of the early years reform – the function is known as Local Reform and Commissioning and the intent is to provide localised support for ECEC services across NSW. The Department will also share information about preparations for this year’s bushfire season.

Lou-Anne (Lou) Lind Acting Executive Director of Commissioning will be facilitating this session, accompanied by Soraia Sousa, Manager, Complex Support Programs and Linda Augusto, Regional Manager, Local Reform and Commissioning for Regional South.

Teacher accreditation: Demonstrating teacher practice


Teacher accreditation recognises early childhood teachers as part of the broader NSW teaching profession. Accreditation is the structure which recognises teachers as meeting the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Teacher accreditation upholds the integrity of the teaching profession.

In this session, Merise Bickley, Lead Early Childhood at NESA will discuss how early childhood teachers can grow as professionals whilst engaging with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers to address teacher accreditation requirements.

Teacher accreditation: Update on requirements


In this session, Merise Bickley, Lead Early Childhood at NESA, will share updated information about teacher accreditation. Teachers, management or employers will increase their knowledge of teacher accreditation requirements.

Merise will explain the requirements for early childhood teachers:
– to work towards Proficient Teacher accreditation;
– to maintain Proficient Teacher accreditation;
– applying for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher accreditation
