How much non-contact time should be provided to educators?

Both awards require at least 2 hours per week of non-contact time to be provided for full time educators (pro rata for part-time) for the purpose of planning, preparing, evaluating and programming activities.

For Children’s Services Award educators in the role of Educational Leader, a minimum of 2 hours per week of non-contact time is required.

If a Children’s Services Award educator is an Educational Leader and also has programming responsibilities for an individual child or group of children, they will be entitled to a minimum of 4 hours non-contact time (or pro rata).
