Great Lakes Children’s Centre (“GLCC”) is a not-for-profit community-based pre-school and long day care centre located in picturesque Forster, NSW on Worimi Land.
We provide a high-quality educational program for children 6 weeks of age to 6 years of age. GLCC prides itself on its have a holistic approach towards education delivered in an environment designed to meet each child’s different stages of development. ABOUT THE POSITION
GLCC is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join their friendly team of Educators and Support staff. The opportunity is also available to persons who are currently working towards an Early Childhood Degree or ACECQA approved equivalent qualification.
Reporting to the Director, you will have the opportunity to design and implement a vibrant curriculum where each child’s current knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities, and interests will be the foundation of the play – based program.
The Early Childhood Teacher will be responsible for:
• In consultation with the Director, prepare, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate programs for individual children or groups of children across the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years;
• Oversee a group or groups of children day – to – day, ensuring a safe environment is maintained for children and staff members;
• Assist with setting up activities for children;
• Liaise with family members of children by provide regular updates on their child’s development;
• Ensure accurate records are maintained for each child and carry out administrative duties relevant to effective room management; and
• Ensure work is conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and internal policies and procedures.
The role is Full Time, however GLCC may consider applications from those seeking Part Time employment.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience caring for and educating children in an early learning environment. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate your skills in curriculum development, parent liaison and administration.
This will be complemented by your excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build strong relationships with children, families, colleagues and the broader community.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess the following essential qualifications, training, knowledge, and checks:
• An Early Childhood Degree or ACECQA approved equivalent qualification or currently studying (minimum 50% completion)
• NSW Working with Children (WWC) check
• Current First Aid Certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training)
• Confident and creative in the presentation of preschool activities
