Message from the CEO: 22 March 2023

The fifth CCSA Rural and Remote Forum was held at the Parklands Resort and Conference Centre in Mudgee last week and it was such a pleasure to connect with delegates from all service types and locations. The Forum had the biggest number of attendees to date and has certainly become a fixture in many member’s calendar of events as “one not to be missed”. I especially look forward to the opportunity it provides to bring together members from rural and remote locations across the country and to have the opportunity to talk with you about the issues that matter to you most. Our theme this year was ‘a time to thrive’ providing an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues, take inspiration from keynote speakers, learn something new and hear the latest information from the Department of Education representatives at our lively roundtable discussions. This year we also took some down time away from the forum venue to network over a glass of wine, wander through an art exhibition, listen to kinship stories and admire the sculpture set out in the gardens at Rosby Vineyard. Thanks go to Gerry for his hospitality.

Once again many of the CCSA team were on hand providing an opportunity for delegates to meet them in person and share in their wealth of knowledge and experience. Bringing the forum to fruition is a team effort and I want to give a shout out to the CCSA team who worked closely together to make the forum a success. I am excited to share that the 2024 Forum will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley from 13-15 March 2024 with the theme of “Future Thinking, Sky’s the Limit”. Delegates at this year’s Forum are able to purchase 3 ticket bundles at a special rate for the 2024 event and is only available until 6 April 2023, so don’t miss out.

The CCSA Administrators Network has continued to be in demand and we are delighted to be extending our support to Administration staff in ECE services through both the Network and the specialised Administrators Stream at the Forum. There was a strong showing of Administration staff again this year which emphasis the important role these team members play in the management of services. The Administrators Network Group 1 for 2023 has already commenced and you are now able to register your interest in Group 2 here, which will commence in July this year.

Lastly the CCSA team are working hard to bring a varied training and consultancy program to you. Registrations are still available for all remaining sessions of the 2023 Training calendar. Enrolments are strong which tells us there is a thirst for knowledge in the sector. Don’t forget that we also have our newly released Committee Induction self-paced learning package available through our website. With many AGM’s occurring at this time of year this package for Committee Members will set them up for success in their governance role.

We look forward to engaging with you across our varied platforms throughout 2023.
