AMENDED Workers Compensation and COVID-19 Safe Plans (NSW)

In our most recent e-Alert we stated that:

Under current NSW Public Health Orders, educational facilities are now required to have a current COVID-19 Safety Plan and be registered as a COVID Safe Business.

We have been in collaboration with the NSW Department of Education to clarify that Early Childhood Education Care Centres (including Preschools) are not required to register as a COVID Safe Business.

Our Member Support Team has had many calls and a great deal of discussion about what services are doing in relation to managing risks related to COVID-19 for their staff and families. Our sector has always delivered a high standard in relation to medical and infection control policies and procedures to protect children, families and staff. The areas the COVID-19 Safety Plan template touches on are nothing new to the Sector. Many are using the general template provided on the COVID Safe Business site as a framework to capture all of the relevant policies they have in place so they can tell their families they are a COVID Safe Business. Many have also registered for people attending the service to check in using the QR codes so that there is a record of everyone attending the service who may not necessarily sign in (such as people making deliveries, dropping off children and so on). You may wish to do these things as best practice for your service but it is not compulsory for you to do so and there is no requirement for you to lodge an approved COVID-19 Safety Plan.

Please contact the Member Infoline on 1800 991 602 (option 2) if you wish to discuss this further.
