The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has announced the Annual Wage Review 2020 – 2021 Decision. The National Minimum Wage and Award Rates will increase by 2.5%.
The FWC still has to make Determinations on the application of the Decision to pay rates and allowances in each Award. CCSA will publish the new pay rates once the Determinations have been finalised by the FWC. We expect these Determinations to be finalised by late June.
CCSA recommends services treat with caution rates from other parties that are published prior to the Determinations being made.
The increase will be progressively applied across the economy, but in the case of the Early Childhood sector increases will occur from the first full period commencing on or after 1 July 2021 for:
- Children’s Services Award 2010
- Clerks-Private Sector Award 2020
- Educational Services (Teachers) Award 2020
- Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010
- Nurses Award 2010
- Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020
If your employees are covered by an Enterprise Agreement that refers to either the relevant Modern Award(s) or the Annual Wage Review in its wage-setting mechanism, your rates of pay may be affected by this increase. Alternatively, if the Annual Wage Review results in Modern Award base rates that exceed those contained in your Agreement, you will need to review your Agreement pay rates.
We will provide more information for those services covered by Enterprise Agreements when the Determinations are finalised.
